The 27th edition of the Václav Hudeček Academy will be attended this year by 18 exceptionally talented young violinists from the Czech Republic, aged 15 to 23, many of whom have already taken part in domestic and international competitions and placed at the top.

"They will work in individual lessons under the guidance of virtuoso Václav Hudeček and Prague Conservatory professor Jiří Fišer and Lukáš Klánský, who teaches at the HAMU in Prague. They will study daily in the premises of the Luhačovice Primary School, where they will also have a space for independent study," said Miroslava Krumpolcová, executive director of Václav Hudeček's Together.

A total of 7 concerts will take place during the Academy, featuring Václav Hudeček and his guests. "Three of the concerts will be graduation concerts, and successively all 18 students will present themselves to the audience at the Spa Theatre, from which the winner will be announced on Friday, August 11 at the Gala evening," Krumpolcová explained.

New to this year's Academy is a collaboration with the Mecca of organists, Pavel Svoboda, one of the most successful Czech organists. Their courses will take place in Štípa, followed by four young artists performing at the Academy's concerts in the churches in Luhačovice and Štípa.

"This is another step by Václav Hudeček to help young talented artists across disciplines to make it in the tough competition. This year, the singers, at the Opening Concert and in the church in Štípa, are also students of the Pardubice Conservatory. In this way we want to show that excellent artists are growing in many fields and need listeners. However, they do not trust the rising generation and attend concerts only with well-known names. It is of utmost importance to present young artists alongside renowned ones, who de facto guarantee their success with their name," explained Miroslava Krumpolcová.

The 27 years of the Academy and the results of the students - many of them are now in demand on world stages, others are professors of violin or play in major orchestras - testify that this is a good path.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force.
