Where is the Lake of Love in Luhačovice hidden?

A good place to start is the Ottovka gazebo by the tennis courts. The trail will go virtually all the way up, setting it past the Stations of the Cross, Mary and Viola springs, for example, and at times the passes offer views that are unfamiliar to the average visitor to the spa as a continuous reward for perseverance, and much to their delight.

The climb ends at the hunting colony and it's easy from there. Cross the road from Luhačovice to the junction to Řetechov, Ludkovice and Pozlovice, turn left for a few dozen metres and then descend some one hundred and fifty metres on a stone path.

I believe that now in mid-November you are not expecting a breathtaking view, the level of the reservoir is not maintained, so to speak, and now it is also covered with leaves. But beware, the magic of love is still there!

There are many rumors and superstitions. For example, it is a good idea to dare to cool your fingers, preferably the index finger of your left hand. Marital fidelity guaranteed. "I do it every time I visit, and so far it's held us for 44 years," says Mr. Petr, a Luhačovice admirer who comes here every year from northern Moravia.

But there are many more remarkable things. Many people capture their relationships here by carving them into the wood of the gazebo, which may be another, albeit somewhat precarious, attempt to retain the favour of a loved one.

According to legends, a waterman used to dwell beneath the water's surface, luring temporarily amorous girls and ladies into his watery snares. There was also a highwayman who, in a pinch, would drop treasure, but there is much more. And the Comtesse used to date a penniless lover here until she was sick to death.

At this time of year, when the true month of love is six months away, the Pool of Love is the best place for all lovers. Or at least those in love with motion. That's because our calves will also get quite a workout on the way back to the spa colonnade, where another crush - on sweets - can manifest itself at the fabulous Spa Patisserie.
