A mature tree fell at 5.45pm directly in front of a passing bus, which was carrying twenty-one passengers at the time. The bus driver had no time to brake and hit the tree. None of the passengers on the bus were injured.

The tree remained wedged under the bus and formed an obstruction on the road which had to be avoided. Officers shuttled traffic while firefighters freed the tree. Passengers boarded another regular bus that was passing by.

A breath test on the 63-year-old driver was negative. The damage to the bus was tentatively estimated by police at ten thousand crowns. Further circumstances of the accident and the degree of the driver's culpability are being investigated by traffic police.
