The results of the competition were announced on 15 September in the premises of the Holešov castle. One of the prizes awarded during the competition is the "Governor's Award", which Luhačovice can be proud of. "It was easy for me to give my vote to the Luhačovice spa colonnade because this building carries a thousand and one reasons why it should be awarded both in terms of historical and user benefits," said the hejtman Jiří Čunek, justifying his decision.
And on the importance of the competition he further said: "Why are we doing this? Just look around us: we are proud of buildings that were built, for example, five hundred years ago, and I think that even today, nice buildings can be built if they have a good idea," said the governor, recalling the recently awarded new church in Sazovice, which was named one of the ten most outstanding buildings in the world by the prestigious Azure magazine. In the "civic amenities" category, the Zubří Multifunctional Complex took the top prize. For the Zlín Region as an investor, the honourable mention for the extension of Building A of the Kroměříž Hospital is gratifying. In the "Houses for Housing" category, the main prize went to the creators of the "Jižní byty" apartment building in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. In the category of "family houses", the winner was the building modifications of the family house No. 260 in Uherské Hradiště. In the "industrial and agricultural buildings" category, Hirschmann 2nd Production Plant Vsetín excelled. "Transport, engineering and ecological constructions" was dominated by the Reconstruction of the M1 bridge over the railway line and local road in Nadjezd Street in Otrokovice. Among the "development projects of towns and municipalities" the jury was most impressed by the FC Strání Sports Centre. Among the "constructions realized outside the territory of the Zlín Region", the reconstruction of the municipal swimming pool in Rakovník was the most appreciated and the "Prize of the Syndicate of Journalists" was awarded to the Mladcová Multifunctional House. The highest award - GRAND PRIX arch. Pavel Novák - was not awarded this year. The competition regularly includes a competition for students of secondary schools focused on construction. "The high level of our pupils in these construction and craft fields has been confirmed once again, and they deserve sincere congratulations," said the Councillor for Education Petr Gazdík. Ondřej Adamec from SPŠS Valašské Meziříčí won the first place, Tomáš Červenka from SPŠ Zlín came second and the third place was shared by Nela Vávrová from SPŠ Zlín and Martin Pančocha from SOŠ and Gymnasium Staré Město.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
