Extensive reconstruction of the car park behind the shopping centre has begun. 71 parking spaces will be created

At the beginning of this week, an extensive reconstruction of the parking lot behind the shopping centre was started in Luhačovice, where 71 parking spaces will be created. If everything goes according to plan, the first drivers should start using the new spaces in April 2025.

"The reconstruction of the car park has been needed for a long time, as its current state is already inadequate. We recognize that the temporary closure will be a hardship for residents, but the result will be a new parking lot with a permeable surface to replace the aging asphalt concrete. At the same time, more greenery will be added, which will not only improve the aesthetics, but also contribute to the further improvement of the city's infrastructure and environment," said the mayor of Luhačovice, Marian Ležák.

The construction work is divided into three phases. The first phase of the reconstruction should be completed by December 20, depending on the weather. After its completion, the parking lot will be partially or fully accessible. The second and third phases will continue in the spring of 2025, with work scheduled to conclude in late April.

"Dividing the construction work into phases will allow us to minimize the impact on supply and access to the mall and surrounding homes," the mayor continued.

The parking lot reconstruction will cost more than $10 million. 83% of the cost will be covered by the Operational Programme Environment, the rest will be financed by the town of Luhačovice from its own budget.

"The town of Luhačovice asks residents to take extra care and follow the latest information on information boards near the car park," added Luhačovice spokeswoman Hana Srncová.

The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core.
