The Zlín Region succeeded in the evaluation of the Prosperity Index of Regions of Česká spořitelna and the Europe in Data platform, ranking 2nd overall in a competition of 14 regions, just behind Prague! The spa town of Luhačovice even has the second highest standard of living among all 206 municipalities with extended jurisdiction evaluated. Zlín and Uherský Brod ranked 7th and 8th respectively.

Zlin region proves it's a good place to live
The analytical team selected 37 indicators across seven areas of life, such as economy, access to health care, amenities, demography and social structure, living environment, leisure and education level, to compare 206 micro-regions in the Czech Republic.
"Zlín Region has once again confirmed that it is a good place to live. We excel especially in the areas of leisure and education, but also in access to health care, economic stability and safety. The excellent second place in the Regional Prosperity Index is the result of the efforts of all residents, municipalities, companies and institutions." commented on the results of the Zlín Region Governor Radim Holiš.
How did the region and its cities fare in the individual indicators?
In all areas, the Zlín Region did very well compared to other regions in the Czech Republic. It scored best in the areas of leisure and education, coming in second place in both.
Municipalities with extended jurisdiction in the Zlín Region can boast, for example, a high number of cinemas per capita, with seven in the top ten - Luhačovice in 1st place, Holešov in 2nd, Vizovice in 3rd, Bystřice pod Hostýnem in 5th, Valašské Klobouky in 6th, Kroměříž in 8th and Bystřice pod Hostýnem in 10th. Uherský Brod.
"Our town tries to offer quality activities not only for work, but also for the leisure time of the inhabitants, which proves that people have fun here," said the mayor of Luhačovice Marian Ležák.
In the area of education, in addition to the region itself, local municipalities with extended competence also ranked well. Luhačovice is 6th, Holešov 8th and Uherský Brod 10th. For example, Luhačovice has a low number of inhabitants without education (0.28%), which earned them 7th place overall in the evaluation of this sub-indicator.
"The educational success rate is excellent in Zlín, Rožnov pod Radhoštěm, Vizovice, Luhačovice, Holešov, Uherský Brod and Uherské Hradiště," listed the analytical team Aneta Petroušková.
In the areas of availability of health care, civic amenities and economy, the Zlín Region as a whole always ranked third. Within the individual municipalities with extended competence, Zlín was ranked 3rd, Uherské Hradiště 5th, Valašské Meziříčí 9th and Kroměříž 11th.
"For example, Bystřice pod Hostýnem has the 5th highest number of practitioners per capita (79.31 practices per 100,000 inhabitants), Zlín 2nd. Uherské Hradiště is 4th, and Valašské Meziříčí is 10th," Petroušková continued.
The municipalities with extended competence of the Zlín Region also recorded good results in the area of economics. The evaluation of sub-indicators shows that Luhačovice has the 2nd lowest number of people in foreclosure (2.95%), while Valašské Klobouky is 8th (3.33%).
"They also have a high number of entrepreneurs: 120.71 entrepreneurs per 1,000 inhabitants secures them the 10th place. Luhačovice can boast a low number of unemployed (1.67%) and 9th place in this indicator," mentioned Aneta Petroušková.
In the environment for life area, the Zlín Region is ranked 4th and Luhačovice is 5th among municipalities with extended competence. The safest place in the whole country is Valašské Klobouky, which records only 4.02 crimes per 1,000 inhabitants. Luhačovice is 7th in this respect.
In terms of demographics and social structure of the population, the Zlín Region came 6th. For example, Zlín has the 11th highest life expectancy (79.82 years) and the 10th highest proportion of university students (17.68% of the total population). Wallachian Hats then ranked 10th in the number of live births (9.57 children per 1,000 inhabitants).
