In Luhačovice and two surrounding villages, four new stationary radars have been put into operation to measure the speed of passing cars. These are intended to calm traffic in areas that have been identified by the town and police as dangerous.

Not only visitors to the spa town, but especially its permanent residents can feel a little safer in Luhačovice again. Four new stationary radars have been installed in the town centre and nearby villages in sections that were identified as dangerous by the Luhačovice town hall and the Police of the Czech Republic.
The first section to be checked is the local part of Polichno, where the town has been trying to improve the traffic situation for many years. It is a main road where children and adults cross to catch the train or bus and drivers often drive very fast here. In the past, a crossing point has been established here, but this has not led to a significant improvement in the situation and crossing the road has often turned into a dangerous adventure.
The second point was chosen at the approach to the centre of Luhačovice from the Vincentka bottling plant, where there is a pedestrian crossing leading to the Spa Theatre. This is also one of the important links to the spa area.
Luhačovice as a municipality with extended competence supported the placement of two additional radars also in villages outside its cadastre, namely in Dolní and Horní Lhota, which represent the main route from Luhačovice to Vizovice. "The section of the main road is straight, so it is tempting to drive fast. The classic restrictions don't work, so we are glad that we agreed with Luhačovice to place the radar," noted the mayor of Dolní Lhota, Jaroslav Masař.
The radars measure the speed of cars in both directions and immediately send the information to the computer of the Luhačovice municipal police station. "This is not about bullying drivers. All the points are either in the middle of the villages or within walking distance of a crossing or crossing point. It's really aboutm to drive slowly in the village," assessed the situation, said Luhačovice Mayor Marian Ležák.
Luhačovice has invested four million crowns in the purchase of fixed radar stations. It should gradually return to the town coffers - the town hall plans to use the speeding fines to build new parking spaces.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
