A few days ago, at the invitation of Mayor Marian Ležák, top representatives of the municipalities of Pozlovice, Biskupice and Petrůvka visited the Luhačovice Town Hall. The main reason for the meeting was to acquaint them in detail with the study of the road bypass of Luhačovice, which proposed an ideal route for its implementation.

There was also, of course, a discussion of why the route was chosen and an explanation of its undeniable advantages over other options. The guests received information not only from the mayor of Luhačovice, but everything was explained in detail by the head of the team that prepared the study, Ing. Filip Struhár from Dopravoprojekt Ostrava, a.s. To make the information complete, Ing. arch. Ladislav Vintr, Head of the Department of Spatial Planning of the Regional Office of the Zlín Region and the Director of the Regional Planning Authority Bronislav Malý. The Region supports the idea of the Luhačovice bypass and in cooperation with the town it had the study prepared. In addition to Luhačovice, the proposed route also concerns the cadastres of the aforementioned surrounding villages. It is therefore clear that sufficient information is also important for their representatives and citizens, which is also well known to the management of the spa town itself.
The meeting was held in a friendly atmosphere and constructive spirit. I very much appreciate the attitude of the representatives of Pozlovice, Biskupice and Petrůvka, who approached the negotiations on the bypass in a very factual and positive manner. We assured them that the proposed route of the bypass would minimize any negative impact of this construction on the surrounding villages and their inhabitants. Their people should also benefit from the positives that the bypass will bring, such as increased traffic safety and easier travel not only to Luhačovice, but also to neighbouring villages and the protection of the spa industry, which is important for the entire region," said Mayor Marian Ležák.
Invited representatives of municipalities also evaluated the meeting very positively.
"It is good that we met with the mayors of the municipalities concerned, because we can communicate information to our citizens. The route of the bypass itself touches Pozlovice minimally, because it goes outside the built-up area and is connected to the existing road in the direction of Slavičín, where an extension with a climbing lane is planned. The bigger intervention will be outside Luhačovice in the cadastre of Petrůvka and Biskupice," noted the mayor of Pozlovice Pavel Coufalík. He also supports the bypass. "I welcome the construction of the bypass because Luhačovice is important not only in terms of spa and recreation, but also in terms of job opportunities for the citizens of the surrounding villages who work in the service sector. All this is linked to the natural wealth of mineral springs, which we must protect," Coufalík pointed out. He pointed out that 16,000 cars, including more than 1,000 trucks, which pass through Luhačovice every day, now complicate the life of the inhabitants and the treatment of spa guests not only by dust, exhalations and noise. The traffic, which threatens serious truck accidents, is also a bogeyman for the very essence of the spa town, which could never function as it does now without clean rivers.
Representatives of Petrůvka and Biskupice, from both of which two members of the municipal leadership came, are inclined to take a purely positive view of the meeting at the Luhačovice town hall. "I was certainly glad that we could meet here and were informed about the bypass project that is being prepared. We can continue to present the information to our citizens who do not know so much about it yet. Thanks to this more detailed information, we will be able to continue to respond to their questions," said Deputy Mayor Rostislav Kandrnál on behalf of Biskupice. He sees the planned bypass as a definite positive. "It would certainly not be bad for Luhačovice and our surroundings if it is implemented," added Kandrnál.
The meeting was also welcomed by the leadership of Petrůvka. "First of all, thank you for inviting us to this meeting. First of all, I appreciate the work of the planners because they have looked at options that look better for the residential part of Petrůvka than the original one developed many years ago. Of course, it is necessary to get to know the materials thoroughly and to discuss it with the citizens so that everyone could find some consensus and see the advantages of the variants offered by the independent designers," said Petra Polášková, the mayor of Petrůvka.
The fact that the new route is more advantageous for the people from the neighbourhood was confirmed by the designer of the study Ing. Struhár.
Currently, it is supposed to lead from the main junction near Biskupice, from where the new road will climb to the ridge above Luhačovice. However, unlike the original version, the bypass will not go along the ridge to the residential part of Petrůvka, but will still turn and connect far before the development to the current road leading from Petrůvka to the roundabout above the dam. "The old version of the route brought traffic right up to the Petrůvka intramural area. In the new version, we are deviating from this significantly and the route will lead to the very border of the Petrůvka cadastre," Struhár noted. "The new variant is therefore significantly better for local people," Struhár pointed out. However, when the new route was introduced, other options were also discussed. "At the meeting, we presented the entire development of the different options and their pros and cons. The result is that the new option leading from Biskupice is psychologically the most advantageous. The driver is directed to the bypass from a large intersection. If he were to connect somewhere closer to Luhačovice, he would not be so motivated to turn off, he would think that he has already passed through the town. This way he will take a nicely designed climb that will mean a smooth diversion from the town. He will say to himself, then, why not use the bypass. It will be a much better option for the current transit traffic to go," Struhár concluded.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
