We were worried about summer attendance after the covid period, but it is even a little better than in previous years. The concern was also related to the fact that we slightly increased the prices by about 10 CZK per hour. Admission fees vary depending on how much time one spends with us. People have accepted the price change without any problems and interest in the float has not diminished.
How many visitors come?
Now, when it was very hot, 450 people a day. But in the early summer it was 720 people a day. We tend to be most crowded when it's rainy, cooler weather and it's not for walking outside or visiting the outdoor swimming area. In recent years, attendance has been steady at about 120,000 people a year."
What are the swimming pool's immediate plans?
Design documents are being prepared for additional restrooms to be built in place of the cleaning room behind the steamboat. It will be closer to the pool, which will be especially appreciated by parents with young children. We will be celebrating 10 years of operation in December, so we want to set up some form of competition for visitors to hopefully win some interesting prizes."
There was a summer cinema on the terrace, how do you think it worked out?
I think very much so. When we're having fun, we have a second show coming up. The attendance at the first one was unexpectedly good."
Are there thoughts of using the terrace more in the future?
The idea is to continue with the summer cinema. One terrace could also be roofed over to create a whole new wellness area. But that's music of the future.
What does it look like now with SC Radostova? Have a lot of the sports team camps that bring in the most money to the center been cancelled?
Of course in the spring they were because of the covid, but now the calendar is running as the dates were booked. We did get one September camp cancelled from Slovakia, but it's arranged that a netball team from Slovakia would come for that date.
For example, you regularly have handball teams, what are the highlights this year?
Handballers, basketball players and of course footballers continue to come. Mr. Hanik's volleyball camp was also held, and another camp for the junior handball team is coming up. The hall, like the swimming pool, is already well used and has a clientele. More work is needed on the outdoor area, which is a bit neglected.
The missing stand at the football ground with natural grass was supposed to be done as well, wasn't it
This has of course been postponed due to the current austerity measures. But we would be happy if it could be implemented next year. It is about £300,000.
What's the most acute thing about the SC Radost site?
All in all, various areas are very cracked, the bowling building is crazy. That has already been returned to the city and we'll see what we can do. It can't be rented out any longer. It's already been cleaned out after the tenant, it was unreal the mess that was left. Now the maintenance man is moving the grounds maintenance equipment there for storage. He's moving it from the wooden sheds nearby, which are in a state of disrepair. The former crumbled concrete pool behind the tennis court has been covered and leveled, and the sheds are waiting to be torn down.
What will be there
We'd like to come up with a new area for technical facilities, then the bowling alley could be removed and maybe a picnic area could be built instead. Something like in Kladná Žilín, but bigger. Maybe an amphitheatre, which could be used for bigger events, to make the area a bit livelier. The playground above the art gallery must be replaced for sure. There are a lot of ideas, but of course changes will not be possible without subsidies or grants, but specific projects have to be prepared for that. It certainly won't change overnight, even the possibilities for co-funding are limited.
What about the changes to the hotel part of SC Radostova?
We are introducing a cash register system there and I want to combine it with the booking system as well, because up to now it works in an outdated way on paper notebooks. The rooms need to be upgraded gradually. Among other things, it is worth considering equipping the rooms with air conditioning. I want to try to offer free accommodation mainly during the autumn and spring to ordinary tourists, who might come with their bikes and go on excursions from there. This would make the capacities more busy. We have 8 standard rooms and one apartment. The rooms are relatively comfortable, with private bathrooms, so customers can find it. I believe that this and other plans will gradually come to fruition.

Luhačovice wants to protect its historical centre
The town of Luhačovice is planning a building closure in the area of the historic core. The measure is intended to temporarily protect architecturally valuable sites from unregulated construction until the new zoning plan comes into force. The building closure is to apply to the spa colonnade or Jurkovič Avenue towards the Luhačovice dam. In other locations, on the other hand, the city is ready to support new construction.
