"Since mid-December, when we went on a number of lines, we didn't want to complicate passengers' lives by introducing changes, so we didn't worry about where they bought their tickets. On our train it was without a surcharge, although this is not usual on the Czech railway. We have opened ticket offices at some stations and our aim is for passengers to buy their tickets there, not on the train. Thus, from March we are introducing a surcharge for on-board purchases
in cases where the passenger could have bought the ticket at the ticket office," says Jiří Nálevka, director of Arriva vlaky.
The handling surcharge will not apply in cases where passenger check-in at stations with open ticket counters without a handling surcharge is allowed by law. This applies, for example, to holders of ZTP and ZTP/P cards or to the subsequent check-in of a passenger who transfers from another carrier's train and presents a travel document for the previous leg of the journey at the previous carrier's fare.
The surcharge will be CZK 40.On the lines in the Zlín region, the surcharge according to the Tariff of the Zlín Region is 40 crowns, and it is added at stations
in Bylnice, Horní Lidč, Kunovice, Luhačovice, Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště, Uherské Hradiště, Uherské Brod, Valašské Meziříčí, Veselí nad Moravou or Vsetín, during the time when the ticket offices are open. If the ticket office is closed, the passenger will not pay the handling surcharge.
The ticket for Arriva passenger trains in the Zlín region can also be purchased in the Arriva e-shop, but the option of using such a ticket on trains of another railway carrier is not valid.
"Our stewards will inform passengers on trains that the ticket office is open at their boarding station and that they can buy the ticket in advance and without a surcharge there. We will be friendly to passengers and will explain the new conditions at the beginning," adds Jiří Nálevka.
Passengers can buy a ticket at the ticket office at the following railway stations:- Bylnice,
- Horní Lideč,
- Kunovice,
- Luhačovice,
- Staré Město u Uherského Hradiště,
- Uherské Hradiště,

Arriva does not forget about children either. It has prepared a special children's ticket for them
"We have often heard from our youngest travellers and their parents that they would like their own ticket. We have prepared a series of children's tickets for them with the Arriváček train. It is available from our stewards and at the ticket offices. On the back side, children can colour a picture, solve a riddle or go through a maze," concludes Jiří Nálevka, director of Arriva trains.
From 1 March 2020, Arriva is adjusting passenger check-in on passenger trains in the Zlín region. In stations where the ticket office is open before the train departs, it is necessary to buy a ticket in advance at the ticket counter. When buying only at the steward on the train, the company introduces a handling surcharge.
